Barossa was born Ben Radford and Burgundian raised Alex Dale to form a wonderfully unique partnership. Modern winemaking and traditional values combine to create some of the finest and rarest gems of the Cape of Good Hope, including their 2017 Chardonnay.
Open this delicious white and take a trip to the Cape. Vines planted on the sea-facing South Easterly slopes, in ancient South African Clovelly soils, produce this vibrant and classically styled Chardonnay. After over 20 successful vintages, the vines have found their natural balance. Combine that with the winemaking expertise at Radford Dale and you can see why their 2017 edition is a true beauty.
With a strong influence of Alex Dale’s upbringing in Burgundy, the making of this Chardonnay has also adapted to the particular conditions in this ocean-facing part of the Cape-- where the mineral geology and temperate maritime climate both factoring much to the equation. Unlike your typical California Chardonnay, the Radford Dale is absent of the buttery and oaky flavors and delivers an austere well-structured wine. It is a great match for fish entrees but will also serve as a refreshing sipper on the patio on a temperate evening.
