2020 Suisun Valley Rodriguez Vineyard Old Vines Valdiguié RoséVineyards & Winemaking
Our Rosé comes from the Rodriguez vineyard and its over 55-year-old vines. The 2020 Rosé is inspired by the Languedoc-Roussillon region of southern France. Valdiguié, grown in that region, is generally known by the alias Gros Auxerrois, however, our Valdiguié comes from Napa’s back side neighbor, Suisun Valley. Valdiguié produces dark colored wines that are low in alcohol. In our second vintage from this great vineyard, we did 40% whole cluster fermentation, which added character, layers and structure to the wine.
Tasting Notes
On the nose the dried strawberry and watermelon screams at you, along with wet stone. When you get to the palate you fi nd fl avors of berries, stone fruit, watermelon and a mineral texture. This wine is both dry and round, and the intense fruit fl avors add a degree of character and creaminess that can be elusive in a Rosé. On the fi nish is great minerality and acidity that will leave you wanting more.
