2017 Rutherford “Alice Block” Cabernet, Napa Valley
Vineyards & Winemaking
Having just received 96 points, our 2017 Cab is drinking fantastic. The Alice Block vineyard in Rutherford was replanted in 2006, and now in its 11th year is starting to rival the best vineyards in the valley. Rutherford has for decades been famous for its exquisite Cabernets because of its magical soil. While there is something special about the soil of this vineyard, the passion we put into the vineyard allows the grapes grown to keep making better wine every year.
Tasting Notes
Our 2017 vintage from the Alice Block has produced a Cabernet that is our best to date. It has the typical expression of the area and is instantly recognized with its distinctive Rutherford dust. Deep purple in color, the nose has tons of high-tone fruit and influences of cinnamon and clove. On the pallet, this is a big wine that is lush with flavors of blackberry, graphite, tobacco, and dark chocolate, concluding with a lengthy mocha finish.
